Decent monitors with flaws
kerochan 13.12.2025
Lovely looking monitor, robust, heavy. very deep in dimensions.

I got these as secondary monitors for client pleasers with with my 8040 Genelecs as my main working on monitors.
I have boosted the bass switch, and left the treble midway as these speakers are toppy enough set flat, I have the Genelecs turned a bit quieter as I am working on them all the time, then I can switch to the HEDDs to check stuff ( Set louder) when I am finished, but to be honest I could have just turned up the Genelecs for a similar result. The stand by switch is rubbish, it doesnt instantly come back on when audio is played, I waited 10 seconds and just flicked the switch back on myself, not the end of the world I know.
Anyways, the way I use them set up is for client pleasers, they have a bit more top end and go lower in bass than the Genelecs.
If the Genelecs ever break down I could happily use the Hedds as mains, just turning the bass and treble back to flat,
The Genelecs however, are in a dfferent league, more neutral and honest, better build quality and the standy function works perfectly, they translate great to other systems too, and seem they are more balanced across the sound spectrum. I can hear the bass more, they are tighter, even though the bass doesnt go as low as the Hedds.
anyway, The Hedds are a nice monitor, though I am using them just as client pleasers, as a main monitor they are fine too (set flat, in my acoustically treated room), but from now on i am sticking to Genelec.
