Ok, I`ve been trying to find a good solid spruce top classical guitar. After a few unfortunate guitars I decided to buy Juan Hernandez Estudio SP and Höfner HM68, and hope one of them fulfils my expectations.
Well they both we`re good guitars which I could`ve kept. Juan Hernandez is nice "Spanish" sounding guitar. Problem with it was the high action (more than 4mm on 12th fret).
Höfner is totally different type of guitar. Juan Hernandez is a boomy spanish type, Höfner is sofisticated German type, with singing mids and highs and balanced bass. What made choose Höfner over Juan Hernandez was the action and playability. Höfner has a low action and it is really easy to play. I Already have Juan Hernandez Concierto guitar, so Höfner brings a different sound palet to the table.E
Every Höfner guitar i`ve played has had really good intonation and low action. The sound is not as "sweet" as spanish guitars but it`s really nice in it`s own way.
