Squier CV 60s Jazzmaster LRL TSPG TCO

When I received the Fender shipping box, the first thing I noticed was that it had already been retaped closed. That immediately raised suspicions that the instrument had been previously opened.
After opening the box and tuning the guitar, the high E string would not play at all when open. The nut slot for the high E was clearly cut too low, and the string was resting directly on the first fret. I temporarily shimmed the slot with a small piece of paper just to make the string playable.
Upon further inspection I noticed that the plastic protective film on the pickguard had already been removed. Inside the box there was also a brochure labeled “VIP,” stating that the guitar may have been used for a photo shoot or audio demonstration.
This left me quite puzzled. If the instrument had been previously handled or used, it should have been clearly sold as B-stock or otherwise identified as opened. Instead it was sold to me as a new guitar.
More concerning is that the guitar left Thomann in a condition where the high E string did not even function as an open note due to the nut being cut too low.
I have contacted Thomann and asked for two things: a replacement nut to correct the defect, and a partial refund reflecting that the guitar was clearly not factory-new.
At the moment I am still waiting for their response. Until the matter is resolved, I am disappointed by the lack of transparency in how this instrument was sold.

Possesseur d'une Jazzmaster US Ultra que j'affectionne particulièrement et qui m'a coûté un rein il y a un an, je cherchais une autre Jazzmaster que je pourrais utiliser, notamment en concert, sans avoir peur de la sortir de l'étui. Le cahier de charges était donc simple: un bon rapport qualité-prix et un manche fin pour convenance personnelle. J'ai donc commandé cette Classic Vibe qui cochait toutes les cases. On n'est plus dans les premiers prix quand on approche les 500€ (mais bon, c'était pour le coloris Tahitian Coral, on est plus proche des 400€ du côté de l'Olympic White ou du Sonic Blue), mais le tarif correspondait au budget que je m'étais fixé.
Au déballage, le coloris est encore plus "exotique" qu'en photo, un bon point. Les finitions, sans être parfaites, sont très bonnes: les quelques rares défauts, au niveau de la touche uniquement, sont très minimes. J'ai souvent lu que cette Jazzmaster était injouable sans un passage préalable chez le luthier. Visiblement, j'ai la chance d'y échapper. J'ai uniquement baissé l'action. Je ne suis même pas certain d'avoir besoin de mettre une cale sous le manche, à voir. Après essai sur ampli Fender lampes, le son est convaincant, notamment les micros manche et intermédiaire (dans une moindre mesure). Le micro chevalet est un peu criard à mes oreilles. De toute manière, je compte faire poser des micros Mascis mais honnêtement, on pourrait s'en passer si on n'est pas un aficionado du micro chevalet. Coté manche, rien à redire, c'est fin et très agréable à jouer. J'ai dû revendre la JM Mascis il y a quelques temps, trouvant le manche trop épais pour moi, ici pas de problème.
Du côté des petites déceptions: les potards volume et tone font vraiment cheap. L'entrée Jack me fait un peu peur, je ne suis pas certain que ce soit très solide. Je la changerai certainement. Même impression sur le sélecteur micro.
Du côté des belles surprises supplémentaires: le chevalet me semble impeccable, le tremolo fonctionne correctement, les mécaniques me permettent d'avoir une très bonne tenue d'accord, la touche est agréable.
De fait, je vais garder cette guitare qui me satisfait, présente un bon rapport qualité-prix et répond à mes attentes.
