Schönes kleines Instrument!
Shashanka_S 18.02.2026

Promissing idea, execution could be better
jimmar 05.11.2026
I am a big fan of multi-functional items, so I was very eager to try this instrument. After one year of usage, I have the following remarks:
1) The name of the product is clever, but a bit misleading. Do not expect a 'djembe' sound. You get a cajon sound on the wooden surface, where you can add or remove the snares. And you get a darbuka sound on the other side.
2) The sound: The cajon sound is fine. The darbuka sound is heavily lacking bass, no matter how you tune it with the allen screws. The 'doum' sound is thus disappointing, although the 'tek' sound is very bright and strong. Do expect some occasional snare rattling, even when you turn it off, on both sides of the instrument.
3) The production seems very rushed. All holes are not cut clearly, something that you would expect from a rushed CNC milling process, without any sanding. You can also spot wood putty all over the external surface, on the perimeter. When I placed the order, the product was out of stock and I waited a few months. Since you take the time, please make it right.
4) The instrument is relatively small (~30cm x 30cm) and weighs about 2 kg, so it is easy to take it around with you.
5) It is a bit tricky to find a comfortable way to place the instrument. That is to be expected, since it has a unique shape. I find that the best place is between my calves.
6) I really appreciate that a padded bag that came with the instrument. The product page also mentions a strap, but I didn't receive one.
7) Overall, I think that it is a good instrument for practice, or relaxed jamming. I would most probably not use it in more formal situations.

Bonus: It does have a wow effect when people see it from afar and makes them interested. When they try it though, they are similarly not that excited. At least, you can spark some conversations.

Fantasic, versatile drum
LizL 10.10.2026
An exccellent piece of kit to anyone that uses rhythm as part of their art or sound based practices. Both sides and different areas of the drum produce crisp, varied and exciting sounds. I would go so far as to offer my opinion that this is a far superior instrument to the Cajon in that it offers so much more.
